Information we collect about you
Generally, when you request a product or service from Experian, you will be asked to provide information about yourself.

  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Billing information such as credit card number
  • E-mail address
  • City of Birth
  • Mother's Maiden Name
• Information you provide to us to verify your identity
• Information from Experian's database used to fulfill your request

Do we share information with third parties?
We are cautious and selective in our choice of affiliated and non-affiliated third party companies that we do business with. When identifying methods of improving our products and services or if we think a product may be of interest to you, we may arrange to extend offers of goods or services to you through these companies, or share certain information about you with affiliates and non-affiliated third parties so that such entities may make offers to you directly. Examples of the types of third parties are:

• Financial service providers, such as mortgage and auto lenders, credit card issuers, and insurance providers
• Nonfinancial companies such as retailers, catalog merchants, direct marketers and publishers

Offering you choices – Marketing Options
You have choices when it comes to learning about new offers or services you can use to help meet your financial management goals. As outlined earlier, we may share personal information with nonaffiliated third parties for the purposes identified above. If you prefer that we do not share information with nonaffiliated third parties, you may opt out of these disclosures (other than disclosures permitted by law) by clicking on "NO" in the Marketing Options section of our order registration page.

How do we protect your information?
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your nonpublic personal information.

For online purchasers, Scorecard protects your information over the Internet by using a secure Web server which allows Web browser programs (Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer) to interact with Scorecard's Web server via an encrypted session. Scorecard employs a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection that provides an encrypted connection between your computer and Scorecard. The 128-bit encrypted connection scrambles ordinary text or data into ciphertext to safeguard sensitive information during its journey across the Internet. The information is decrypted, or put back into a readable format, when it reaches its intended destination. Depending on which browser you use, you will know you are in secured area by "https" or a lock appearing on your screen. When you visit our Web site, you may move in and out of secured areas. Any time that you are on a registration page or viewing your personal credit report, you will be in a secured area.

Privacy policy changes
We reserve the right to change this privacy policy at any time. Online purchasers have agreed to obtain changes to this privacy policy electronically by visiting the Web site.
