Updated: February 26, 2003 The following describes the technology that Experian uses to analyze Web site visitor traffic to Web pages within the United States section of www.experian.com. For information about use of cookies, Web logs or other technologies used in connection with a specific Experian product or service offered online, please visit Product and service privacy policies and review the privacy policy for the specific online product or service. Web logs and cookies used for Web traffic analysis
Web log information is automatically gathered every time you visit our Web site by the computer that hosts our Web site (called a "Web server"). The Web server automatically recognizes non-personal information, such as the date and time you visited our site, the pages you visited, the Web site you came from, the type of browser you are using (e.g., Internet Explorer), and the type of operating system you are using (e.g., Windows 2000). A cookie is a piece of information that our Web server sends to your computer (actually to your browser file) when you access our Web site. Our cookie does NOT contain any personally identifiable information such as name or email address. The cookie is simply an anonymous tag that uniquely identifies your computer, not you. It allows us to recognize returning visitors to provide us with more accurate statistics regarding the sections of our site that are being visited. Most Internet browsers are set to automatically accept cookies, but can be set to notify you before you receive a cookie, giving you control over whether or not you choose to accept the cookie. You also have the option of setting your browser to turn off cookies. If you turn off cookies, we still detect anonymous visits to these pages, but the statistics generated cannot be associated with other anonymous cookie information. Although you do not need to accept cookies to access our Web site, you may need to enable them in order to use all of the features and functionality of our site. Policy changes
